For the very first days of your relocation in France, you will be able to buy a prepaid SIM card in any newspaper shop at the airport or in towns. It will give you time to have accurate information from the Relocation Agency in charge of assisting you in your home search about the high quality internet and phone providers.
Housing assistance on arrival:
The Welcome Office provides housing research assistance, through its Relocation Company, to ITER Direct Employees considered eligible, i.e. :
Ø Non-French staff living more than 100 km from ITER at the time of their assignment will be offered the following assistance:
o Global information about the local real estate market;
o Receiving emails with housing ads corresponding to your requests;
o Visits;
o Assistance for the lease-contract;
o Inventory;
o Utilities and internet connections.
Ø French staff living more than 100 km from ITER at the time of their assignment will be offered the following assistance:
o Global information about the local real estate market;
o Receiving emails with housing ads corresponding to your requests, once a week during a period of 3 months.
You will just have to indicate on your Welcome Questionnaire sent by the WO that you need housing assistance. You will then be contacted by the Relocation Company to start the assistance.
The service is offered by the Welcome Office once during the assignment.
Note that some documents may be required when renting a house or for the utilities contracts, such as:
– a house insurance certificate
– an employment certificate with salary (can be requested from the ITER Human resources team at hr-remuneration@iter.org)

On departure from the ITER Organization, The Welcome Office also offers assistance: if you were eligible for the housing assistance on your arrival, you will also benefit from some help for the formalities to leave your house/apartment at the end of your ITER contract.
