VISAS FOR INTERNS

The applicable visa depends on the length of your internship in France and of your nationality:

≤ 3-MONTH INTERNSHIP

  • You are an American, Japanese or Korean citizen?

If the duration of your internship is less than 90 days, no visa will be required.

You will have to hold with you the internship agreement signed by all parties (may be required by the European authorities at the airport during your travel).

First make sure that you have a valid passport.

You will find general information related to the regulations of entry to France on this website. Please select your country of residence.

  • You are an Indian, Chinese or Russian citizen?

If the duration of your internship is less than 90 days, you will need a short stay visa (no additional formality required on your arrival).

You have to be aware that with this visa you will not be able to extend the duration of your internship or your stay in France.

First make sure that you have a valid passport, as it will be required as of the beginning of the visa process.

BETWEEN 4 AND 6-MONTH INTERNSHIP

If you are a non-EU citizen and if the duration of your internship is from 4 to 6 months, you will need a visa to come to France: non-EU ITER interns are entitled to obtain a specific visa called in French ‘Visa de long séjour temporaire’, VLST (Temporary Long Stay Visa). This visa is free of labour and immigration obligations and its delivery is faster. No additional formality is required on the arrival in France. The fees are 99€.

First make sure that you have a valid passport, as it will be required as of the beginning of the visa process.

> 6-MONTH INTERNSHIP

If you are a non-EU citizen, if the duration of your internship is more than 6 months, and if you are eligible for the specific and facilitated visa procedure, the Welcome Office will assist you in obtaining the specific French ITER visa, called “PROMAE” visa.

First make sure that you have a valid passport, as it will be required as of the beginning of the visa process.

We also recommend that you wait until you obtain your visa before confirming any travel ticket.

Once you have arrived in France, the WO will be the interface for your special residence permit application, as the extension of your visa.
