The importance of the ITER spouse/partner:

For the Iter Organization employee:

It is of crucial importance to make sure your spouse/partner creates his/her own support network in France.

Because often they have made the choice of following you in your career, this might mean in some cases that they have given up their jobs, friends, family.

Your spouse/partner is the one who will be dealing with everyday life which is a challenge at the beginning, especially when you do not speak the language and need to communicate.

The Iter Community is a strong one with many different nationalities and cultures in which your spouse/partner can find his/her place.

For the spouse/partner:

Your role is valued in the success of the Iter Project.

We have many activities for you to get to know other people in your situation.

We can provide you with a support system so that you will not stay alone. Please do not hesitate to contact any of the members of the Welcome Volunteers, an association of volunteer spouses who are here to make your new life easier.

Please remember that it takes time to speak French so use every opportunity you can to make progress. See our section Start learning French before arrival.
