As ITER Project Associate (IPA), Visiting Researcher (VR), Member of Domestic Agency staff (DA), the Welcome Office will be your interface to obtain the French special residence permit (Titre de séjour Spécial), also called “carte PROMAE”, which is issued by the Protocol of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.
Spouses and children aged less than 21, are entitled to this special residence permit, as long as they fulfil the eligibility conditions.
You will obtain a French Special Resident Permit with a code “EM”, which does not grant any Privileges and Immunities (P&I) apart from the facilitated working and immigration process.
– Non-EU citizens will only obtain the French special residence permit if they have been delivered the specific French ITER visa called “PROMAE visa” in the first place (please refer to the Visas Section).
The application should be done in the first three months of your arrival in France.
If your family (spouse and children) arrives in France later (and follows the “PROMAE visa” process), they will benefit from the same special residence permit as yours (application to be done in the first three months of their arrival too).
– EU citizens (non-French) will obtain the French special residence permit on their arrival in France (since no visa in required) as long as they fulfil the eligibility conditions.The application should be done in the first three months of your arrival in France.
If your family (spouse and children) arrives in France later, they will benefit from the same special residence permit as yours (application to be done in the first three months of their arrival too).
French citizens and EU or non-EU citizens who are considered as residents: no document will be issued by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs in that case.
Non-EU citizens will have to make sure the French residency document (titre de séjour préfectoral) they already have is valid for their new assignment.
