Travel to France on taking up duties
For all your travel expenses, you will be in contact with the ITER Human resources team, who will give you details on the ITER Travel Costs Reimbursement Policy and Procedures.
Importing your belongings to France
· Moving from a non-EU country:
When you move to France from a country outside the European Union, you have some customs formalities to complete. When you come with a vehicle and/or valuables, a specific form has to be filled out.
Please check the website of the French Customs Office (in French, but use google chrome and click right, translate to English)
As IPA, you are responsible for the process of importing your belongings.
· Moving from an EU country:
Thanks to the free circulation of goods in the European Union, there is no special procedure to follow.
Cars:
Please refer to this specific section: Importing a car
Pets
If you are entering the EU with a pet, you must travel with an official document that has been completed and signed by a veterinarian in your country. You will have to present this document for customs clearance. If you do not clear your pet you may have to pay a fine or your pet may be confiscated by Customs authorities. To find more information in English, refer to the French Customs website.[PLE1]
Medication
Medication for personal use, i.e. in an amount corresponding to 3 months of treatment, may be brought into France without a prescription, provided they are carried in your baggage. If you carry medication containing narcotics or psychotropic drugs, you must keep the prescription with you at all times.
